Texturing in Maya:

Texturing in Maya:

Painted Texture

I modelled some very simple low-poly crates for this task. F|or this render I used a graphics tablet on Photoshop to hand paint the texture. A textured brush was used to get the wood grain effect, and the centre panels were made slightly darker to improve the illusion of depth once the texture was applied.

For this render I took an image of wooden planks and edited them in Photoshop to match the UV's of the boxes. I then generated normal and specular maps to experiment with more realistic renders. The normal map was made using the X-Normals plugin in Photoshop, and the specualar map was made by making the diffuse black and white, then lowering the brightness and upping the contrast.
